Had dinner with some running kakis at 3 Crabs at Outram Rd a place which prior to this I had not heard of before. Their specialty - obviously crabs (with a name like that) but not any normal black pepper or chilli crab but Curry Crab. Crab cooked in curry actually it taste more like laksa and comes with optional laksa noodle. The Sri Lanka crab they used was humongous and the combination of the curry and the crab really stood out well. Definitely a cannot miss. The other unique dish we had was the chicken rojak. It is actually just normal rojak with chicken and mango but taste great. The or-nee was good but it was also a big disappointment because it came in such small serving. First time I seen or-nee served on a plate so u can imagine how small portion it is! The rest of the food were so so nothing to shout about but I think for crab lovers, this place cannot be passed up. All photos courtesy of Karen. What started as just some coffee talk turned into reality within the space of 2 weeks. On and off, we have been talking about moving to a bigger house so that each of the kid and Mum can have 1 room each. Beside, the current place was falling apart with leakages; faulty air con worn furniture. Also, the local neighbours have mostly moved out with more and more foreigners replacing them and the estate was getting a little too boisterous for comfort. So 2 weeks ago, while shopping for a new set of sofa, was talking with M about looking for a new place when got a sms from a friend who had recently became a property agent. One thing lead to another and soon we were viewing flats. We were horrified at the type of prices people are asking for HDB apartments especially the cash over valuation (COV) which was like $30,000 to $50,000.00. We told ourselves no hurry look see look see will do. But by a quirk of fate? there we were this afternoon looking at 2 units and both were not suitable. About...
Singapore has a new nature playground. The Lorong Halus Wetland between Pasir Ris and Ponggol. The Wetland is build on landfill from trash but looking at it, one can never talk. It looks so clean and green. And apparently there are birds galore. More about the Lorong Halus Wetland here. The site map of the Lorong Halus Wetland The welcome board at Pasir Ris Farmway Using an innovative bio-remediation system, the PUB has designed the Lorong Halus Wetland to collect and treat water passing through the former landfill, preventing it from flowing into Serangoon River. The various reed and ponds traps and filter the 'dirty' stuff and prevent them from floating into the river which has become a reservoir.
