Saw this car at the Bukit Timah Visitor car park. Maybe the driver is illiterate and can't read. But on my way back, he was blasting loud ang moh music from his car stereo.
So maybe he is not illiterate but blind since that is a real big sign and he parks right below it!

Parking Idiots
This is a parallel parking lot but this joker either don't know how to do parallel parking or decide it is easier to do a reverse parking.

Pet Peeves while Moving Around
Not in any particular order:
1) People who text, play games, watch video on their phone or tablet while travelling on the escalator or walking in a crowded area
2) Smokers who smoke in groups along common corridors forcing people to walk through a cloud of smoke
3) Cyclists who ring their bell non-stop while cycling on pedestrian walkway and pavement
4) People who keep blowing their nose while in a train or bus
5) People who talk so loud on their phone that the whole train carriage can hear the conversation
6) Dog owner who do not pick up their dog poo
7) People who go to Nature Reserve and Parks for the fresh air but light up while they are there spoiling the air for everybody
9) Big strapping men who rush for seat or compete for seat with ladies on the train
10) Commuters who stands in the middle or front of the bus and refuse to move to the rear

Giant Moth
Was out for lunch one weekday and saw this critter on the wall. It was about the size of a palm. Fairly big. Don't know what species of moth this is.
There is a grandmother's tale that if somebody has recently passed away in the household and one of this giant moth appears in the house, it is the spirit of the deceased visiting the house and should not be killed.
Nowadays, it quite rare to see this type of moth. In the past, we can see it every now and then in void decks and even in the house. Does it mean there are less people dying nowadays or the moth are dying faster than human are dying?
Anyway, these are beautiful creatures and I hope to see more of them around, spirit or no spirit.

Travel Sg - Building at Shrewsbury Road
There is old run down building that can be seen along Moulmein Road. Every time I pass by the place, I am curious why such a property in a prime area is not better utilised. There is a For Sale sign there which has been up for the longest time.
One very interesting feature about this property is its wall. The top of the wall is covered with broken glass. I think this was used to deter burglars in the past and I think the practice has now been banned. But the wall is pretty low so I can imagine the number of hands it must have cut over its history.
While it looks vacant, there are a lot of well maintained potted plant at its front which is actually along Shrewsbury Road. The For Sale sign is still there
Let just see how long more it remain in this condition.

Parking Idiots
Following my earlier post on the Mercedes Benz in a No Parking lot, I snapped another photo of another "big" car improperly parked in the same HDB Multi-Storey Carpark.
Need I say more. I rest my case.
This time I uploaded the picture to FB and made a general comment implying that people with "big" car tends to any how park.
I was very swiftly contradicted by a friend who sent me the following photo
Okay this isn't a "big" car but it is still in that class which I classified as "rich man" car. Again I generalised but the impression I get is "I got money to buy expensive car so I can anyhow park. At most pay fine only what!" shitty snooty snobbish type of attitude.
And this photo reinforce my view. An "ultra big" car occupying the motorcycle lot!

Boat Quay
Boat Quay. I walked there occasionally on my way to Running Lab and every time without fail I get accosted at almost every Thai, Chinese and Indian restaurants that I passed by. Now I can understand if I am strolling and looking at the restaurants but there I am walking rapidly and certainly not looking like I am looking for a place to eat. It gets very annoying especially since I have no intention of eating there having been badly overcharged once when I dined at a Thai restaurant there.
So I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the place recently and nobody; okay 2 places made some half heartened attempts; to "jio" me to eat at their place. What has changed?
Apparently there is a campaign by some of the restaurants to stop the touting, overcharging and clean up the image of the place.t
Let's hope they succeed but frankly I don't think the momentum will be carried through for long. Many have tried and all have failed.

Personal Parking Lot?
This Merc seems to have found himself a nice private parking space right in a HDB multi-storey car park. The shelter seems purposed built just for it. Lucky soul.
But wait a minute, what is the red stuff on the floor just next to the left of the car?Closer look. Its says "PARKING". Wow, HDB very good tell people this is for parking is it?
Double Wow, Singapore Cricket Club member somemore. Wonder what's it doing in a humble HDB carpark?

Bicycle No More?
This was the scene 1 month ago when I first blogged about the bicycle situation in Pasir Ris.
One month later, the bikes are gone. Is it due to the holidays and everybody is away?
Well no, there is this big sign put up by the Town Council on the removal of bicycles. Me, I would like to think that my earlier blog post has something to do with the Town Council's enforcement although I cannot be sure.
But of course, sign or no sign, there will be some soul brave enough to take a gamble that the Town Council will not enforce the rule and park their bicycle right under the banner. I hope the bicycle can tow away.

One Saturday Afternoon in Orchard Road
One of the few times that I walked down Orchard Rd from Scotts Rd till Orchard Central. Along the way, pass this giant poster that has been attracting the wrong attention.
What were they queuing for? To get into H&M, the latest international brand that opens its door in Singapore today. People even queue up overnight! All this to get into an outlet which is so common in other part of the world! Singaporean really got nothing better to do!
Some 'concerned' citizens have written to the press to complain that the ad is indecent! Read the complaints here and here. I looked left and right and mostly up and down and frankly I can't see anything indecent about it. However, I do agree that the ad should be removed. I thinkthe visual of a half naked male torso serve more to attract the 'other' group of 'guy'. Me think, they should replace it with something that is more soothing to the eyes like this ad:
Further down the road saw this super long queue snaking all the way from Orchard Building to Yan San Building.

Kiasuism at its Highest Level
This is something that I want to blog about for a long long time but somehow never got around to. The picture is of the MRT entrance at Cecil Street/Telok Ayer Street. Seems pretty ordinary right?
In this second photo, noticed the circled item? These are CCTV camera. At this entrance, there are a total of 4 cluster of camera and each cluster has 6 cameras facing every which way but up. 2 set of them are on the right and 2 sets on the left which means there are a total 24 cameras at one entrance alone.
And apparently this is not just at Tanjong Pagar but at all the other MRT stations. Further, walk into the Tanjong Pagar station at the concourse and platform level and you will see more cameras. In fact, there are cameras everywhere. Maybe that's why they need to increase transport fares?
But the most ironical thing is, go to any above ground station and you can hardly find any cameras on the open platform. So it seems the authorities are more concerned with terrorist threats and sabotage rather than recording how people seems to be falling on the tracks.

One Ton Noodle anyone?
We laugh at the so funny signs in China but there are plenty of it in Sg as well. Take this one spotted at the Chinatown Food Centre:
Maybe the organiser of the CP Biggest Eater Competition could have just hold the contest here instead of getting to all that trouble at Junction 8. And the winner will be the fella who can finish the One Ton Noodle, i.e. all 907 kg of it!
And for those who don't fancy eating that much noodle, how about dumbling soup? Just hope nobody becomes dumb after drinking it.
And all this happening at Cow Car Water!

I Spy ~ Flossing Lady
Was eating dinner one evening at this food court in Orchard and then I saw her.........
Beautiful looking lady, maybe about mid 30s dressed very elegantly in green.
And then, and then.... she started flossing her freaking teeth there and then in front of everybody else. And she looks like she was enjoying it too, vigorously pulling the thread up and down with her mouth opened wide.
Luckily I finished eating, otherwise sure cannot finish. Also very lucky never merlion.
Damn gross. Some people no sense of decorum [shake head]

Fly and Pee
Here's what goes on in front of the urinal.
No. 1 Most common: Unbutton, unzip, pull open front of trouser and pull down underwear and let go. Visible from back: nothing
No 2. Frequently used by middle and above aged men: Unbutton, unzip, pull down trouser and underwear until bum is exposed. Visible from back: Half of the backside
No 3. Method adopted by most fat man: Unbutton, unzip, pull down trouser and underwear until knee level. (wonder how they manage to keep the trouser from dropping all the way to the floor?) Visible from back: backside and whatever dangling between their legs
Latest (just saw this morning): Unbutton, unzip, pull down trouser and underwear until bum is exposed. Pull up shirt. Visible from back: half of backside and half of back. (Now's that a new one which prompt this post)
Correct method: Unzip fly, pull down underwear (if wearing) and pull out the little brother and pee. Gee wonder whether anybody still do this?

I Spy on the Train
Was on the train. This young couple was openly cuddling and kissing. Nowadays it so common to witness scene like this.
Only problem with this one was - both were girls! One was the typical sweet young thing and the other what we termed a "butch". But anyway the show they put up was pretty off-putting.
Now I just hope I won't and never get to witness 2 guys making out on the train. The thought of it ..... yucks!

One shithead of a Guy
Was at the Thasevi roti prata on Sunday morning when I witnessed something incredible.
This guy was with his family including old lady, children and maid. After emptying 2 bottles of soft drinks, he turned round and put the 2 empty bottles on the next table. The only problem - the next table wasn't an empty table. There was a lady occupying it. Can see her face changed. In shock but she didn't do anything.
After some time, the inconsiderate shithead of a guy did the same thing again - this time he placed some soiled utensils on her table! Now we can see the lady boiled. She took her water bottle and slammed it on her table making the shithead guy and his wife jumped But unfortunately that was as far as all she did.
Now if I were her, I couldn't have tolerate the 1st time. I would have politely returned the 2 bottles to him and if he had protested or attempted another stunt like that on me, I would have empty my cup of tea all over his table!
I wondered what type of kids will be bring up with his type of behavior!

Hungry Ghosts
Every year I attend the AGM and every year I am shocked and awed at the behaviour of the shareholders and this year was no different. In fact, I think the shareholders have now reached a higher level of kaisuism.
Right at the very beginning of the AGM at just the 1st resolution, when a shareholder was asking some questions, another shareholder stood up and very rudely interrupted the proceedings to proclaim that he was hungry and to speed things up! What did the rest of the floor do? They clapped!
And from the word go when the AGM finally ended, the shareholders charged to the buffet table. These are what I saw:
1) 1 person piled her plate so high that when she finally put down the plate on her chair, half the items dropped off.
2) Another lady with another fully stacked up plate went back to her seat and took out plastic bags and poured the food in before going for another round.
3) Another lady went one better. She took 3 plates at one go and put them all into her carrier bag before going back for another round. A colleague commented that she went 4 times. And towards the end, she also took the bottle of chilli sauce and the hot coffee! Yes coffee! Each time she will take 2 cups filled it up and go back to her seat and took out a bottle and poured the coffee inside before going for more!
I know shareholders have nothing much to look forward to at AGM other than the food but such kiasu behaviour. The least they could do is to let other people take the food first before taopaoing! And of course ask for permission from the host but fat chance. I think the ghosts during the 7th month are better behaved!
No wonder hotels all over the world have heard about the Singaporean travellers!

More Morons
Was at a traffic light at a x-junction and saw this old guy cycling across the road. He stopped 3/4 away from the pavement and waited in the middle of the road presumably for the light to change so that he can cycle across to the other road (to save cycling time?)
Back home was reversing and this idiotic guy was running up and down across 3 car lots. Doing what?
Again turning back into the carpark later, 3 jokers were chatting in the middle of the drive way.
And there was this other lady waiting for a car /cab? and she was also standing in the middle of the road!
Do these people think they are made of some sort of super material and impervious to cars?

Morons
You are sitting at your desk at 6pm rushing to wrap up work for the day. Suddenly, you feel a movement, the water in your cup is sloshing, a book dropped down and your head start to spin. What is going on? Earthquake! You grab your phone, purse maybe laptop and rush down and out of the building.
Safe at last. You stand with hundred of other like minded people in front of the building and looked up mouth wide open gaping at the building and waiting for it to collapse.
Hello friends.....this is not a cartoon. When a building collapse, it doesn't collapse inward. Debris will be flying down and it is not going to come straight down but will be flung left right centre and you lot standing 2 metres in front of the building is going to be the first to get this 'shower of blessing'.
Don't be a moron. Either you stay put in the office and go down with the building if it really collapse but if you choose to run out, stay a safe distant from any buildings that might come down on you. Otherwise what is the point?
